The Arizona Mountaineering Club was founded in 1964 for the purpose of promoting and teaching safe rock climbing. Today the AMC has over 300 members who are involved in all aspects of rock climbing, mountaineering and various other outdoor sports. AMC members range from the occasional weekend climber to those who attempt the highest mountains around the world.

"Community is Instrumental" is a new musical fusion community music series featuring local folk/original music and musicians. Acoustic, percussion, R&B, rock, blues, ballads, dance music, jazz and more will join together this Saturday, September 24 at Shadow Rock Musical Fusion, 12861 N. 8th Ave, off Thunderbird in Phoenix. Three musical sets will be featured, beginning at 7:00 p.m. with Ben Anderson, followed by Peter Tompkins at 7:45 p.m. and Three-Legged Dog at 8:45 p.m.

This Mesa-based group is for folk-rock-blues oriented acoustic guitar players/singers from beginner to advanced level. The idea is to get together on a Sunday afternoon to play individually or with others. Open mics with a PA system would be a natural follow on. We are a group of families who like to hike with all age groups. We tend to feature short but fun hikes that all ages can enjoy. I have found that my kids enjoy and have more energy for hikes that have some mildly rugged terrain with rocks to climb, and that hiking with other families makes for good fun. It is an opportunity to spend some time with your family and to meet new people at the same time.

We are a fun group of experienced hikers, canyoneers and climbers who welcome others who enjoy difficult 5+ mile trails at a fast pace. This is NOT A BEGINNER hiking group - we do Camelback and/or Piestewa Peak during the week for workouts to train for our longer weekend hikes.
